Online Educational Games for kids

What are our best online learning games for kids in 2019?

By | Education, News, Skidos | No Comments

In this article, we share with you the best online learning games for 2019 published by SKIDOS. Our platform grows every month as we add new games. Some of our users’ favourites online learning games are here:

1. Bike Racing is one of our most popular game available on Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

One of the most successful games we published last year was BIKE RACING. Kids fell in love with it instantly, and it helped them not only play like a real pro motorcyclist across the most exciting race tracks, but it also assisted in Mathematics and Coding practice.

What makes it so popular amongst kids is the fact that progression is smooth and entertaining. The game has 99 race tracks and the possibility to modify the racer’s gear, outfits and skills. Each level the gameplay becomes slightly harder, but not that hard to make kids give up on the game.

Math puzzles in the game can be adjusted to match the school curriculum and specific mathematics operations such as multiplication, fractions etc. can be chosen

2. Snow Race

Similar in gameplay to Bike Racing, but the scenes are as cool as the mountain slopes in the game. The gameplay is more straightforward, so it can perfectly match with children between 4 and 10 years old. Here the educational questions are again for math and coding.

3. Bakery Game

Children can learn how to bake a cake with real ingredients. On top of that, the whole “Do It Yourself” scenario provokes their creative thinking, and the fun is guaranteed. In this game, the educational questions are within coding and maths as well, but the gameplay has many voice-overs to help children improve their listening skills and remember the name of the ingredients for baking. Who knows, they may want to help you next time in the kitchen?

4. ABC Town and Fishing Game

These games help kids to practice spelling and pronunciation of the first 200 english words using phonetics and pictures.  It does include the math puzzles too. The cool thing about both these games is the amazingly cute graphics and the ease of the gameplay. Those two online educational games will match best for kids at the age of 4 and 5 years.

5. Rabbit Rescue and Flower Match

Coming last but not the least as the best online learning games for kids. One is a very popular bubble shooter game which kids love and the other is based on a match 3 puzzle gameplay popularly seen in games like Candy Crush.

Here the fun is to rescue cute Rabbits from being stuck in balloons and kids can advance in their trajectory by shooting to the sides and learning about angles. Best for kids from 6 to 11+ years age group.

Now is the time that you go and download these five stars learning games for your kids and start their fun learning.

More new games are being added every month.

So expect news from us very soon 🙂

Go play and learn now!

Improve your child’s math with SKIDOS

By | Education, News, Parenthood, Skidos | No Comments

Ever wondered if there were fun ways to improve your child’s math skills? Can there be something beyond the boring old classroom? SKIDOS learning games are your answer.

Why choose SKIDOS?

SKIDOS games are designed to engage kids with fun characters and interesting levels. These will encourage them to practice more and learn from the feedback without the pressure to score top grades.

But it’s not all just games. We understand that each child has a unique learning need. Our learning content is customized to meet each child’s individual skill level. This helps them to progress at their own pace. Our team constantly gathers and monitors data on how kids perform with the learning games. As a result, we strongly feel that –

“The more kids play – the more they learn”

SKIDOS improves your child’s maths

Mathematics is a primary concern for parents and teachers. Most kids dread numbers. Teachers and parents are often at a loss about how to make them interested. SKIDOS helps make math fun.

Our data shows (refer graph below) that kids improve their accuracy in math when they play more. As illustrated, the more questions they answer, the better their accuracy becomes.

Accuracy math level

Levels represent the difficulty of the questions asked. Children in Level 1 (4-5 years old) enhance overall accuracy. They improve basic counting, and simple addition and subtraction with visual and audio tools in the games. Children receive feedback based on their answers which improves their accuracy by up to 3%.

As the levels get harder, children continue to improve their accuracy by bigger margins.

By the time they reach Level 3, children improve their accuracy by more than 20% (refer below graph). This improvement continues as the levels get harder and the number of questions increase.

Our collected data, regular school visits and feedback from teachers and parents all indicate that children who play SKIDOS games  show visible improvement while having fun with math. So, next time your kids demand more game screen time, be sure that SKIDOS will give them the best game-based learning experience.

Coding for kids

Skidos makes coding fun for kids!

“Everyone should learn how to program a computer, because it teaches you how to think.” – Steve Jobs

It has been 20 years since Steve Jobs said these words, but not enough progress has been made towards it. Coding is only taught in higher educational levels or through special programmes, but not everyone has access to it. So we wonder why are people still resistant to this when there are so many cool benefits:

1. Learning is easier at a young age. It has been scientifically proven that it is easier for children to learn things than an adult.  Coding for kids on the age of 5 may sound too complicated and optimistic. However, the understanding of coding logical building is not that hard even for kids.
2. Problem-solving and analytical thinking. Coding techniques help children to develop critical thinking skills. It teaches them how to break down big tasks into smaller and feasible steps.
3. Coding for kids is creative. It allows kids to create a whole world on their own and choose what paths and tools they use to create those cool things. And who doesn’t want to be a creator of its own game or reality?
4. Coding is the future. Programming is one of the fastest growing occupations. Coding for kids can build a ground basis for future understanding and of course expanding choices for future possibilities.

The whole world seems to be moving towards technology, so why shouldn’t kids be prepared for the future?

Skidos is joining in on this initiative and is working to offer children an easy and fun way to learn to code. Instead of feeling trapped and bored, with Skidos’ games kids have a lot of fun playing while they learn. Moreover, they develop new skills without realizing it. Intuitive learning approach for studying is not only giving the best results in understanding, but it boosts motivation as well.

Stay tuned! New coding games from Skidos are coming out this month!

By | Curiosities, Education, News, Parenthood | No Comments

Easter Fun for all the family!Happy Easter!!

Well, whatever Easter means to you, we have loads of ideas to keep you and the kids entertained. From Easter egg hunts and family-friendly Sunday lunch locations to Easter themed crafts and ideas for rainy day activities, we have your Easter holidays sorted. You can always count on SKIDOS team for tonnes of suggestions for fabulous, fun activities to keep your children entertained over the holidays. Check out our ideas for free family activities, plus loads of crafts and games, both indoors and outdoors.

1. Celebrating Easter at home.

Holidays are great opportunities for us to spend time with our loved ones, enjoying the time together. Easter Sunday is no exception, and it’s a beautiful time to enjoy with your family. Make some plans with your loved ones to make your Easter together a great one. For example:

  • Invite your family and friends to share the holiday with you.
  • Ask your family and friends what they might like to do on your Easter together.

2.Making Easter Eggs

Easter-Eggs1Dyeing Easter eggs can be a fun way to spend time together with your family and make some great Easter decorations. However, before you can get started, you will need to gather a few key things. Review the following list of the necessary materials you will need to create dyed Easter eggs.

  • A cup to hold the dye.
  • A spoon or tongs for the eggs.
  • Hard-boiled eggs.
  • Liquid food colouring or egg dye.
  • Paper towels to let eggs dry on.
  • Optional decoration tools such as a clear wax crayon to draw designs on the eggs. The next following step is to prepare your eggs. Preparing your Easter eggs can make them last longer and prevent them from making a mess if they break. Before you get started doing your eggs, you will need to prepare them properly. Add water to a pot and place your eggs in the water, making sure the eggs are cover by about an inch.
    • Bring the water to a boil.
    • Remove the pot from the burner and add a cover.
    • Let the eggs sit for about 12 minutes.
    • Drain the water from your eggs and refrigerate until you are ready to decorate. Now Take the following steps to dye your eggs properly:
      • Add water and dye to a glass.
      • Place the egg in colour you want it to be dyed.
      • Remove the egg with a strainer or spoon.
      • Place the egg on a paper towel and allow to dry.
      • The longer the egg sits in the dye, the darker the colour will be.

Make use of your decorated Easter eggs. After you have enjoyed creating your designs, it’s time to show them off or think about fun ways you might want to use them. Look over some of the following examples to get an idea of how you can use your newly decorated Easter eggs.

  • Create a display that showcases your designs
  • Hide your Easter eggs to create a fun Easter egg hunt
  • Have a competition to see whose eggs are the best in categories such as most artistic, best design or brightest colours.

3. Travelling with your family.

If you’re looking for a slightly cheaper alternative to travel abroad, a holiday park is always a good option. With so many to choose from – Haven, Butlins, Center Parcs and Forest Holidays to name but a few, plus a whole host of independent holiday parks too – you’re sure to find somewhere to suit you and your family’s needs.

4. Easter games

Spring means Easter and Easter mean eggs! But you don’t have to restrict the fun to eating eggs of the chocolate variety – you can have lots of fun with real eggs outdoors. Aside from holding your egg-and-spoon race championship, how about playing egg catch? You’ll need an apron and some eggs.

How to play: Stand about three steps away from your partner in the garden and start playing catch with the egg. After a few throws, each player should take action back and carrying on throwing. Every couple of throws each player takes a step back until they are quite a distance from each other and the game becomes increasingly difficult! The loser is the person who fails to catch the egg, and it drops and breaks.

5. Read Easter and Spring Children’s books

Gather the kids and curl up with a good book. Search for any Book Finder tool to stock up on great children’s books about Easter, bunnies, and spring.

Happy Easter!!!

                                                                                                                                                               Source:Wikihow.com

Apple to Dive into the Education Program for Public Schools

By | News | No Comments

Apple logoNews

With the start of a new school year, Apple is now focusing on their educational program.

Apple is now an active participant in White House’s ConnectED initiative. Apple has issued several grants regarding this to public schools. 114 public schools across 29 states are beefed up with Ipads, Macs, and Apple TVs. This is opening new doors and advancements for not only the private but also public schools.

Technology is the new era and with this ConnectED initiative, kids are closer to knowledge more than ever. They now don’t have to get their knowledge through analogue, as they have the possibility to learn in different forms via digital. With this in mind Apple has made it their goal to accelerate the learning process.

Kids now have the opportunity to think outside the box. Here is what the CEO of Apple had to say regarding their advancements.

Exciting News: We’re Expecting a Baby Girl

By | News | No Comments

Facebook profile of Mark Zuckerberg Good News!

The CEO of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, has announced on the popular social network that he will become a father: “Priscilla and I have some exciting news: we’re expecting a baby girl!”

“Now we’ll focus on making the world a better place for our child and the next generation.” That’s one of the first ideas that come in mind while expecting a baby. Mark also wrote: “This will be a new chapter in our lives. We’ve already been so fortunate for the opportunity to touch people’s lives around the world — Cilla as a doctor and educator, and me through this community and philanthropy.”

The magnate, with a fortune estimated in 41.000 millions of dollars, tells that they have been trying to have a baby for two years and have had three miscarriages along the way. Mark and Priscilla recommend to share this process because it is itself a lonely way to go trough. “You start making plans, and then they’re gone. It’s a lonely experience. Most people don’t discuss miscarriages because you worry your problems will distance you or reflect upon you — as if you’re defective or did something to cause this. So you struggle on your own.”

The creator of the biggest social network claim for “connexions” in the big meaning of the word: “In today’s open and connected world, discussing these issues doesn’t distance us; it brings us together. It creates understanding and tolerance, and it gives us hope. When we started talking to our friends, we realized how frequently this happened — that many people we knew had similar issues and that nearly all had healthy children after all.” We are the most connected generation and we should use it to being closer between friends, family and diferent cultures.

Mark and Priscilla on Facebook

To become a father or a mother is always a great adventure full of new feeling and experiences to learn with, even more when you are the creator of Facebook and you can share with, absolutely, the whole world.

It’s for sure that Mark and Pricilla are having the most common and wonderful of the feelings: the happiness to have created a new life.

They wanted to share with the world not just their personal news, but also the learning of being open: to share our life with our beloved people makes us stronger. We live in a world hipper connected, it is important to learn how to use the new technologies in our favor.

Zuckerberg and Chan got married in 2012 in a private ceremony at their home of Palo Alto, California, into Sillicon Valley’s heart.

Mark finish his Facebook’s state: “Cilla and our child are both healthy, I’m extremely excited to meet her and our dog Beast has no idea what’s coming. In our ultrasound, she even gave me a thumbs up “like” with her hand, so I’m already convinced she takes after me.”

Congratulations to the  family Zuckerberg from Skidos!
