  • Determine the unknown whole number in division equation relating three whole numbers. For example, 5 =? ÷ 3
  • Understand division as an unknown-factor problem. For example, find 32 ÷ 8 by finding the number that makes 32 when multiplied by 8.

  • Solve one-step problems involving division, by calculating the answer using concrete objects and pictorial representation.
  • Divide numbers mentally drawing upon known facts.
  • Divide numbers up to 4 digits by a one-digit number using the formal written method of short division and interpret remainders appropriately in the context.
